The company gradually rolls out this change across 185 countries to make artificial intelligence accessible to curious users who want to experience its capabilities without committing to an account.
The no-account experience provides access to the GPT-3.5 model, which handles conversations, answers questions, and analyzes documents. Users who want the more powerful GPT-4 model, web search, chat history, voice conversations, or custom instructions still need to create an account and subscribe to the ChatGPT Plus service.
OpenAI implements additional content safeguards for this streamlined experience and blocks a wider range of prompts. Although the platform uses these unauthenticated chats to train its models by default, users easily opt out of this data collection through the settings menu even without logging in.
