The company grants full commercial-usage rights to beta participants, meaning users can legally sell, reprint, or merchandise the AI-generated artwork. OpenAI notes that creators already plan to use the tool for children's book illustrations, newsletter graphics, film storyboards, and video game character design.
Despite the massive expansion, OpenAI maintains strict safety guardrails to mitigate potential harms like bias and misinformation. The updated system automatically rejects uploads of realistic faces, blocks violent or adult content, and actively promotes diverse outputs when users enter prompts for specific roles.
