This broader rollout marks the official beta phase of the highly anticipated technology.
With this expansion, OpenAI transitions DALL-E 2 from a completely free service to a credit-based fee structure. New users receive an initial batch of free credits that replenish monthly, with subsequent months providing 15 credits. Customers who need more generations can purchase additional credits in $15 increments, though the company offers subsidized access for artists who require financial assistance.
In addition to wider availability and new pricing, OpenAI grants users full commercial rights to the images they generate. Creators are now free to reprint, sell, and merchandise their DALL-E 2 artwork, including images made during the early preview. The company also implements new techniques designed to reduce bias and toxicity within the AI's generated outputs.
