An Edit tool allows users to realistically modify uploaded or generated images using simple text descriptions, while a Variations feature creates alternate versions inspired by a single source image. Additionally, a My Collection feature enables users to save their favorite generations directly on the DALL-E platform for easy organization and future access.
To address potential risks, OpenAI implements enhanced safety systems informed by collaborations with researchers and artists during a three-month preview period involving over 3,000 creatives from 118 countries. The system actively prevents abuse by disallowing uploads of realistic faces and blocking attempts to generate images of famous individuals or influential politicians. These guardrails aim to reduce the likelihood of the technology being exploited to create misleading information or deepfakes.
