Under the terms of the agreement, ChatGPT provides users with summarized news articles and even includes content that normally sits behind a subscriber paywall. The AI chatbot attributes the information properly and includes direct links to the full articles to ensure transparency for its users.
In addition to surfacing summarized news, Axel Springer supplies its media content to OpenAI to serve as training data for large language models like GPT-4. This arrangement closely follows a similar licensing agreement that OpenAI establishes with the Associated Press earlier in the year.
