OpenAI Unveils Faster GPT-4 Turbo, Custom Chatbots, and New Assistants API
OpenAI launches GPT-4 Turbo with a massive 128k context window and reduced pricing alongside a new Assistants API. The company also enables ChatGPT users to build custom AI bots tailored to specific tasks.
OpenAI introduces GPT-4 Turbo, a powerful upgrade that features a 128k context window capable of processing over 300 pages of text at once. This new model brings knowledge of world events up to April 2023 and significantly reduces costs for developers, making it three times cheaper for input tokens and twice as cheap for output tokens compared to the previous version.
The company also launches the Assistants API to streamline the development of AI-driven applications by integrating tools like a Code Interpreter and Retrieval. Alongside this developer-focused update, ChatGPT users gain the ability to create custom GPTs designed for specific use cases without needing any coding skills.
Additional updates include enhancements to the GPT-3.5 Turbo model, which now boasts a default 16K context window and a 38% improvement in following formatting instructions like JSON and XML. Furthermore, GPT-4 Turbo expands into multimodality by gaining the ability to process images, opening up new possibilities for visual understanding.
