OpenAI Unveils GPT Store Marketplace and ChatGPT Team Subscription
OpenAI introduces the GPT Store, a marketplace for users to share custom ChatGPT bots, alongside a new ChatGPT Team subscription tier for organizations.
OpenAI launches the GPT Store, a new marketplace that allows customers to access and share custom versions of ChatGPT. These specialized AI models, known as GPTs, are tailored for specific tasks that the standard chatbot does not support out of the box and can interact with external applications or proprietary datasets. Users build these custom bots using a low-code tool directly within the ChatGPT interface.
The company also introduces ChatGPT Team, a new paid subscription tier geared toward organizations starting at $25 per user per month. This offering serves as a more accessible alternative to the Enterprise tier OpenAI debuted last year. To share creations in the new GPT Store, users must set their GPTs to public and create a Builder Profile, with OpenAI reviewing all submissions through both manual and automated methods.
The marketplace features custom chatbots from everyday users as well as partner-built GPTs from organizations like Khan Academy. Industry experts note that this launch signals a shift from general AI applications to vertical, task-specific solutions. Additionally, OpenAI plans to launch a GPT builder revenue program in the first quarter, paying U.S. creators based on user engagement with their custom chatbots.
