PatSnap raises a massive $300 million in a Series E funding round led by SoftBank Group Corp.'s Vision Fund 2 and Tencent Investment to expand its AI-based innovation intelligence platform. The round brings the company's total funding to $351.6 million and highlights the growing enterprise demand for artificial intelligence-powered analytics. Existing investors such as CITIC Industrial Fund, Sequoia China, Shun Wei Capital, and Vertex Ventures also participate in the late-stage round.

The company provides an AI-powered IP intelligence directory that helps organizations manage intellectual property portfolios and conduct product research. Additionally, PatSnap offers an R&D platform that pulls data from thousands of knowledge bases to validate ideas and forecast market trends. The platform also includes specialized industry tools like PatSnap Bio and PatSnap Chemical, which target innovation specifically within the biotech and chemical research sectors.

PatSnap aims to solve the pressing issue of declining R&D productivity as global firms spend more than $2.4 trillion on research and development this year. The company reports that its tools help customers process unstructured data 12 times faster and increase successful product launches by three times. Analysts note that in a knowledge-based society, protecting innovation with patents is crucial for enterprises to avoid costly IP lawsuits and secure a strong return on their R&D investments.
