Video presentation startup Mmhmm, led by former Evernote CEO Phil Libin, acquires Memix to enhance its virtual meeting toolkit. Memix provides a variety of video filters that alter lighting, background details, and overall screen aesthetics for both live streams and pre-recorded clips. This strategic purchase allows Mmhmm to bring advanced visual customization to users who are experiencing widespread Zoom fatigue.
Memix currently operates as a virtual camera that integrates seamlessly with popular platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and WebEx, as well as web-based apps like Facebook Messenger. Mmhmm plans to maintain this existing virtual camera functionality while actively working to integrate Memix's filtering technology directly into its own core product. The Mmhmm platform is currently in a closed beta and focuses on letting users manipulate presentation materials around their video feeds in real time.
