Polestar Issues Second Recall in October for Faulty Inverters and Heaters
Polestar voluntarily recalls thousands of its newest electric vehicles due to defective inverters and coolant heaters. The company assures that North American vehicles remain unaffected by this latest service action.
Polestar issues a voluntary recall for nearly 4,600 of its newest electric vehicles due to faulty inverters that convert battery energy into motor power. The company plans to notify all affected customers starting November 2 and states that technicians can complete the necessary hardware replacement in a single service visit. Vehicles in North America and Switzerland remain completely unaffected by this specific inverter issue.
The recall also addresses a separate problem with the High Voltage Coolant Heater, which provides heating for both the cabin and the high voltage battery. Faulty parts installed in early production cars require immediate replacement to ensure proper vehicle operation. Out of the total recalled fleet, only 3,150 vehicles have actually reached customers so far.
As part of this service campaign, Polestar takes the opportunity to upgrade all affected vehicles to support forthcoming Over-The-Air software updates. This marks the second recall for the electric performance brand this month, following an earlier October fix for a software glitch that caused some cars to abruptly stop while driving.
