Advent International signs a definitive agreement to acquire a 51% stake in Prisma Medios de Pago, Argentina's leading payments company. The existing shareholders, which include a group of 14 Argentinian banks and Visa International, retain a 49% stake in the business. This transaction values the entire company at $1.42 billion and represents Advent's sixth investment in Argentina and eighth global investment in the payments sector since 2008.

Prisma Medios de Pago holds the number one position in merchant acquiring and payment processing within Argentina. The company provides point-of-sale rentals, e-commerce gateways, electronic bill payments, and operates as the second-largest ATM network in the country. Beyond its domestic borders, Prisma extends its issuer and merchant acquiring processing services to clients across 14 Latin American countries.

Through its TodoPago brand, Prisma also ranks as the second-largest player in peer-to-peer transactions by offering e-wallets, mobile point-of-sale systems, and QR code payment solutions. Advent plans to support the company's continued growth by driving product innovation and expanding its international footprint. The firm leads this transaction using a dedicated team of local market and payments sector experts spread across six global offices.
