The device operates on rabbit OS and utilizes a proprietary Large Action Model (LAM) to navigate app functionalities just like a human would. By understanding and executing complex digital actions on its own, the r1 acts as a proactive personal assistant rather than a basic smart speaker limited to simple commands like checking the weather.
Teenage engineering co-designs the physical hardware, drawing inspiration from retro toys like the Tamagotchi to create a compact, lightweight body. The gadget features a 2.88-inch touchscreen, a push-to-talk button, a matching scroll wheel, and a unique 360-degree rotating camera named the rabbit eye that facilitates video calls and environmental scanning.
