Reddit Protests Extend Indefinitely as CEO Refuses to Alter API Pricing

Thousands of Reddit subreddits are extending their initial two-day blackout into an indefinite strike in response to the company's new API pricing. More than 300 major communities, including heavyweights like r/aww, r/music, and r/videos, pledge to stay private until Reddit provides an adequate solution to the soaring API costs.
The escalation follows a leaked internal memo where CEO Steve Huffman tells employees that the protest is just noisy backlash that will eventually pass. Huffman remains firm in the memo, stating that Reddit absolutely must ship the planned API changes and that improving the product is the only long-term solution.
Reddit currently shows no signs of backing down, with a spokesperson confirming that the company is not planning any changes to the previously announced API updates. Although the original two-day strike technically ends on Wednesday, over 6,700 subreddits remain dark and inaccessible to the public.
