Ukraine produces approximately half of the world's neon gas, a crucial element for the lasers used in chip production. Leading Ukrainian suppliers like Ingas and Cryoin shut down their operations due to escalating attacks on key cities such as Mariupol and Odesa, which directly threatens the global output of semiconductors.

This severe materials shortage prolongs the ongoing global chip crisis, with Intel's CEO warning that the deficit extends well into 2024. The reduced supply heavily impacts major manufacturers, as seen when Apple produced ten million fewer iPhones than expected in 2021 and automakers like General Motors completely shuttered entire plants.
