Samsung Expands Galaxy AI Features to Older Phones in March Update
Samsung announces that its Galaxy AI toolkit will reach older flagship devices through the One UI 6.1 update in late March. Users will gain access to features like Circle to Search and real-time translation, though a future paid model is planned.
Samsung confirms that a host of its recent smartphones are receiving the Galaxy AI features in late March through the One UI 6.1 update. Previously exclusive to the new Galaxy S24 series, this artificial intelligence toolkit is expanding to include the Galaxy S23 lineup, the Galaxy S23 FE, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 family.
The update brings a variety of smart tools to these older devices, with Circle to Search standing out as a particularly useful addition that allows users to identify objects on their screen simply by drawing a circle. Other notable additions include real-time translation tools for phone calls and in-person chats, advanced AI photo editing capabilities, and Chat Assist to help users adjust the tone of their text messages.
While Samsung clearly plans to eventually charge users for access to these AI features, the company keeps the exact pricing and timeline a secret for now. For the foreseeable future, all of these powerful tools remain completely free for anyone using a compatible Galaxy device after they install the upcoming March software update.
