Samsung unveils its new Galaxy S24 flagship smartphone with deep integration of Google's Gemini generative AI models. The Gemini Pro model powers enhanced summarization features across Samsung's native Notes, Voice Recorder, and Keyboard applications, allowing users to easily distill long lectures or documents into key points.
The device also utilizes Gemini Nano, a highly efficient compact model, to run Google Messages' Magic Compose feature entirely on-device without requiring an internet connection. This enables users to rewrite their text messages in various tones such as excited, formal, or lyrical, making the Galaxy S24 only the second Android device to host this specific AI model after Google's Pixel 8 Pro.
Beyond text and audio, the Galaxy S24 incorporates Google's Imagen 2 text-to-image model to drive Generative Edit capabilities within the Gallery app for seamless photo alterations. Additionally, Samsung reveals plans to become one of the first partners to test Gemini Ultra, Google's most powerful AI model, ahead of its broader public release later this year.
