Samsung Introduces Gauss, a New Generative AI Model for Devices

Samsung reveals its own generative AI system named Gauss, which handles text, code, and image generation. The company plans to integrate this technology into its consumer devices starting next year.

Samsung unveils Samsung Gauss, a new generative AI model developed by Samsung Research, just days after OpenAI's developer event. The system consists of three distinct tools designed to handle different tasks, including understanding human language, writing code, and generating or editing images.

The language component functions similarly to ChatGPT by helping users write emails, summarize documents, and translate languages, while the code tool assists developers by describing code and generating test cases. The image generation feature enhances low-resolution pictures and creates new images from text prompts.

Samsung currently uses Gauss internally but plans to bring the technology to consumer phones, laptops, and tablets in the near future. To ensure safety, the company establishes an AI Red Team to monitor privacy and security issues throughout the development process.
