Samsung brings back its spherical Ballie robot at CES 2024 with new AI features, a built-in projector, and smart home control capabilities.
Samsung brings back its spherical Ballie home robot at CES 2024 with several modern AI upgrades. Roughly the size of a bowling ball, the revamped robot features a spatial lidar sensor for navigation and a battery that lasts up to three hours.
The new Ballie includes a 1080p projector with dual lenses that displays movies, video calls, and PC monitors directly onto walls. It automatically adjusts the picture based on wall distance, lighting conditions, and the user's posture to provide an optimal viewing angle.
Users control Ballie through voice commands or text messages, with a built-in chatbot confirming requests before taking action. The robot also controls both smart and non-smart home devices using an infrared transmitter, though Samsung keeps details about availability and pricing a secret for now.
