Samsung Targets Indian Market With Budget Galaxy M Series

Samsung launches its new affordable Galaxy M series first in India to compete directly with Xiaomi and double its online sales. The three smartphones target millennial consumers with prices ranging under $142 to $280.

Samsung introduces its new budget-friendly Galaxy M series in India before releasing the smartphones globally. Three devices go on sale through Samsung's website and Amazon India at the end of January as the company attempts to double its online sales. This strategic move targets Indian millennial consumers directly with affordable pricing.

The tech giant seeks to reclaim the top spot in the world's second-largest smartphone market after losing ground to Xiaomi in late 2017. Xiaomi gains an advantage with its budget Redmi series, while Samsung previously lacks strong competitors in that specific price bracket. However, analysts point out that Samsung still holds significant advantages in research, development, and supply chain expertise.

The new Galaxy M10, M20, and M30 devices feature specs that recently appear on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. Prices for these Indian-first smartphones range from less than 10,000 rupees to 20,000 rupees. Meanwhile, Samsung prepares to unveil its premium flagship Galaxy S10 in San Francisco on February 20.
