Samsung Unpacked Reveals Galaxy Fold and S10 With New Developer Tools

Samsung showcases the Galaxy Fold and S10 at its latest Unpacked event, highlighting new display technologies and optimization tools for app creators. Developers and designers receive fresh resources to adapt their applications for these innovative devices.

Samsung hosts its latest Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco and showcases three major new devices that offer fresh opportunities for developers and designers. The star of the show is the Galaxy Fold, a revolutionary smartphone with a flexible display that seamlessly transitions apps from a smaller cover screen to a large main display. Samsung demonstrates three apps running simultaneously on the unfolded screen and encourages developers to implement app continuity to ensure a smooth user experience.

The company also celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Galaxy S line with the launch of the Galaxy S10, which features enhanced cameras, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and a bezel-less display. This new device stands out as the first mobile phone optimized for Unity platform games using adaptive performance features. Because the S10 runs Android Pie and the latest One UI update, existing applications work flawlessly without any required modifications from creators.

In addition to the new hardware, Samsung provides robust support for the creator community through various channels and upcoming events. Designers gain the ability to create custom Galaxy Themes for the S10, while developers will soon access the new devices remotely through the Samsung Cloud Device Farm. Furthermore, Samsung and Google plan to co-present a dedicated session on optimizing games for the Galaxy Fold at the upcoming Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
