Samsung's independent STAR Labs unveils NEON at CES 2020, presenting a computationally created virtual being that looks and behaves exactly like a real human. Unlike traditional AI assistants that act as know-it-all bots, NEONs focus entirely on showing emotions, intelligence, and genuine sympathy during conversations.
These artificial humans operate on a proprietary technology platform called CORE R3, which stands for reality, realtime, and responsive. The system trains extensively on how humans look, behave, and interact, allowing the avatars to generate lifelike movements and expressions with a latency of less than a few milliseconds.
Although modeled after real people, each NEON develops its own unique personality and exhibits entirely new expressions and dialogues. The company envisions a future where users subscribe to these digital beings for roles like financial advisors, healthcare providers, TV anchors, or even personal companions.
