Samsung officially reveals the Galaxy Fold, a sleek foldable smartphone that transforms from a 4.6-inch phone into a 7.3-inch tablet. The device features a specialized hinge designed to withstand hundreds of thousands of folds and brings major credibility to the foldable form factor following a lackluster debut by competitor Royole.
The hardware packs an impressive punch with 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a combined 4,380mAh battery split across two sides. Samsung also equips the handset with six different cameras so users always have a lens available regardless of whether the device is open or closed.
Software plays a crucial role with a customized Android interface that includes an "App Continuity" feature for seamless transitions between screens. Users run up to three separate apps simultaneously in tablet mode, though a visible crease on the unfolded display raises minor questions about the long-term viability of the new design.
