Samsung Unveils Redesigned Notebook Odyssey Gaming Laptop at CES
Samsung reveals a sleek, aluminum-clad Notebook Odyssey at CES 2019, featuring an innovative center-hinged display and powerful RTX 2080 graphics. The new gaming laptop aims to win over critics with unique performance modes and thin bezels.
Samsung unveils the latest version of its Notebook Odyssey gaming laptop at CES in Las Vegas, bringing a fresh aluminum design that aims to improve the line's mixed reputation. The 15.6-inch device stands out immediately with an innovative center-connected hinge that mimics a standalone monitor, along with dramatically shrunk bezels measuring just 6.7 millimeters. A backlit, typewriter-style keyboard completes the premium gaming aesthetic.
Under the hood, the laptop packs serious power with an eighth-gen hexa-core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and storage options ranging from a 256GB SSD to a 1TB HDD. Gamers also get top-tier graphics thanks to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 card powered by the new Turing GPU. A healthy selection of ports, including USB-C, three full-sized USBs, HDMI, and Ethernet, ensures easy connectivity for all necessary peripherals.
Samsung includes unique software features to give players a competitive edge, such as Odyssey Mode for saving game-specific setting profiles. Beast Mode allows users to modulate system performance based on the active software, while the Black Equalizer improves in-game lighting to help spot enemies in dark areas. The new Notebook Odyssey arrives early this year, though Samsung keeps pricing details under wraps for now.
