Short Drama App My Drama Introduces AI Chatbots to Boost Viewer Engagement
Ukraine-based startup Holywater launches AI companions for its short series app My Drama, allowing viewers to chat directly with characters from its soap opera-style shows.
Short series app My Drama introduces AI-powered chatbots that allow viewers to interact directly with characters from its soap opera-style shows. Developed by Ukraine-based media tech startup Holywater, the app features over 30 shows and has already attracted 1 million users and generated $3 million in revenue since its launch in April.
The company enters a booming short drama market that sees 66 apps generating $146 million in global consumer spending in the first quarter of 2024 alone. My Drama leverages a significant advantage through its parent company's popular romance reading app, My Passion, which provides a vast library of existing intellectual property and an established fanbase to adapt into films.
Upon launch, viewers can chat with two initial AI characters named Jaxon and Hayden after watching a few chapters of their respective series. The app guides users to build a relationship with these characters and even request images, creating a deeply immersive storytelling experience that competes directly with platforms like Character.AI.
