Singapore Startup DayOne Raises Over $2 Billion for Global Data Center Expansion
Data center startup DayOne secures more than $2 billion in a Series C funding round led by Coatue to build advanced, liquid-cooled facilities in Finland and Singapore. The company utilizes pre-fabricated modules and custom software to accelerate construction and optimize computing infrastructure.
Singapore-based data center startup DayOne closes a Series C funding round exceeding $2 billion, led by Coatue with participation from Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund and other institutional investors. Launched just earlier this year, the company previously raises $1.9 billion across two earlier funding rounds. DayOne directs this massive new capital injection toward financing its ambitious global construction efforts and expanding its operational footprint.
The flagship project for DayOne is a 24-acre data center campus in the Finnish city of Lahti, which costs €1.2 billion to build and comes online early next year. At full capacity, the site hosts 120 megawatts of computing infrastructure optimized for liquid-cooled racks equipped with Nvidia Corp. chips. Additionally, DayOne builds a 20-megawatt facility in Singapore that utilizes a solid oxide fuel cell powered by hydrogen and oxygen to generate electricity.
Rather than using traditional onsite construction methods, DayOne assembles its facilities from pre-fabricated modules manufactured in a factory, an approach that speeds up construction and lowers costs. The company claims it produces up to 2,500 modules per year, representing 500 megawatts of computing capacity. Inside these facilities, a custom software stack manages the graphics card racks, utilizing observability tools that track system health and detect malfunctions before they cause service disruptions.
