Snap Introduces My AI Chatbot to Snapchat+ Subscribers
Snap launches a new ChatGPT-powered chatbot called My AI exclusively for its Snapchat+ subscribers. The company intentionally limits the tool's capabilities and warns users about potential inaccuracies due to its young user base.
Snap introduces a new chatbot called My AI that runs on OpenAI’s GPT technology, making it the latest tech company to embrace the generative AI trend. The feature is currently available exclusively to subscribers of Snapchat+, a premium tier that costs $3.99 per month and offers early access to experimental tools.
While My AI handles similar tasks as ChatGPT, such as suggesting gift ideas and writing personalized haikus, Snap intentionally restricts its range of responses to prevent offensive or manipulative outputs. The company openly acknowledges that the AI still experiences hallucinations and can be tricked into saying just about anything.
These safety guardrails reflect the predominantly young demographic of Snapchat’s user base, as data shows nearly 59% of its users are between the ages of 13 and 24. Furthermore, Snap clarifies that it collects and reviews all chat data to improve the product, explicitly warning users not to share secrets or seek advice from the bot.
