Snapchat Reaches 203 Million Daily Users as Growth Rebounds
Snap reports a return to user growth with 203 million daily active users, driven by a redesigned Android app and improved retention rates. The company also sees a 48 percent revenue increase despite ongoing losses.
Snap is climbing out of its recent growth slump by reaching 203 million daily active users in the second quarter. This milestone represents an eight percent increase year-over-year and a seven percent jump from the previous quarter, marking a positive reversal after several quarters of declining user numbers that previously worried investors.
The redesigned Snapchat app for Android plays a major role in this turnaround by boosting user engagement. Snap reports that users send seven percent more Snaps with the new app and highlights a more than ten percent increase in the retention rate of first-time users. Additionally, daily time spent watching content on the Discover platform surges by 60 percent compared to last year.
Despite the positive user trends, Snap still operates at a loss even as its financial health slowly improves. The company generates $388 million in revenue, a massive 48 percent increase from the same period last year, while narrowing its net loss to $255 million. Investors await further details from CEO Evan Spiegel regarding the partner-focused initiatives announced earlier this year.
