SpaceX Breaks Falcon 9 Reuse Record With Ninth Starlink Launch
SpaceX successfully launches 60 more Starlink satellites while flying a Falcon 9 booster for a record-breaking ninth time. This rapid launch pace highlights the company's push to expand its global broadband constellation.
SpaceX delivers another 60 Starlink satellites to orbit, bringing the total to 180 satellites added to the growing constellation in just ten days. This particular mission marks a major milestone for the company because the Falcon 9 first-stage booster flies and lands for a record-breaking ninth time.
The historic booster previously supports five other Starlink missions, as well as the uncrewed Demo-1 test flight for the Crew Dragon capsule. By repeatedly reusing this hardware, SpaceX demonstrates its ability to significantly reduce launch costs while turning around equipment quickly for subsequent flights.
Because SpaceX acts as its own customer for these Starlink missions, maximizing booster reusability remains a critical strategy to mitigate operational costs during the broadband service's beta phase. The company plans to maintain this rapid launch cadence with at least two more Starlink missions scheduled before the end of March.
