SpaceX Starship SN8 Passes Fourth Static Fire Before Milestone Flight

SpaceX's Starship SN8 prototype successfully completes its fourth static fire test at the company's South Texas facility near Boca Chica. During this standard preflight checkout, the vehicle's engines briefly ignite while the rocket remains securely bolted to the ground. This successful test keeps the prototype on track for a major milestone.

SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk confirms that SN8 aims to launch on its first high-altitude flight next week. The ambitious test targets an altitude of 9 miles, or roughly 15 kilometers, which stands significantly higher than any previous Starship prototype has ever reached.

The upcoming flight serves as a critical developmental step for SpaceX's next-generation space transportation system. During the ascent, SN8 tests a three-engine configuration, body flaps, fuel tank transitions, and a complex landing flip maneuver.
