Spanish Voice Assistant Sherpa Raises $8.5M Extension, Reaches 5M Users
Sherpa.ai expands its Series A funding to $15 million as the Spanish-language voice assistant surpasses 5 million active users. The startup plans to use the new capital to secure B2B2C partnerships with automakers and device manufacturers ahead of a larger Series B round.
While major tech giants dominate the voice assistant landscape, Spanish startup Sherpa.ai carves out a significant niche by focusing on the Spanish language and predictive recommendations. The company expands its Series A funding by $8.5 million, bringing the total round to $15 million as it officially surpasses 5 million active users on its app.
This funding extension serves as a strategic bridge before the company pursues a larger $20 million Series B later this year. Founder and CEO Xabi Uribe-Etxebarria explains that this interim capital allows Sherpa to launch upcoming deals with major original equipment manufacturers, thereby building momentum to secure a better valuation in the next funding round.
Sherpa already partners with Porsche to integrate its conversational AI into vehicles, and it plans to announce similar B2B2C agreements with other automakers, telecom companies, and smart device manufacturers in the coming months. Investors like Mundi Ventures and British Airways CEO Alex Cruz back the startup as it positions itself as a leading predictive AI operating system outside the traditional Silicon Valley ecosystem.
