Spotify Enables Direct Music Sharing to Facebook Stories

Spotify rolls out a new integration that allows users to share 15-second song previews directly to Facebook Stories. The feature aims to help artists promote their music while driving traffic back to the Spotify app.

Spotify introduces a new Facebook Stories integration that allows users to share 15-second song previews directly from the Spotify app. Listeners simply tap the Share button in Spotify and select Facebook as their destination to launch the Story creation interface. Viewers of the Story hear the short audio clip and have the option to tap a button to open the full track in the Spotify app.

The feature builds upon a similar Instagram Stories integration that Spotify launched last year and is designed primarily with artists and their promotional teams in mind. Musicians frequently use Spotify's sharing tools to distribute their content across various social platforms, and this addition provides another avenue to reach fans. The partnership proves mutually beneficial by making Facebook Stories more engaging while driving discovery traffic back to Spotify.

This 15-second preview functionality currently only works when sharing individual tracks, as sharing albums, playlists, or artist profiles does not include the audio snippet. It is worth noting that Spotify actually supported Facebook Stories sharing in the past before pulling the feature earlier this year. Users accessing the new integration are reporting that it directs them straight to the Story editor rather than offering a News Feed sharing option.
