Stability AI Names AWS as Preferred Cloud Provider for Generative Models
Stability AI is deepening its partnership with AWS to scale its open-source generative AI models across multiple content formats. The deal positions Amazon's cloud infrastructure as the primary training ground for the fast-growing startup.
Stability AI names AWS as its preferred cloud provider to build and scale its generative AI models for image, language, audio, video, and 3D content. The fast-growing startup, which recently reaches a $1 billion valuation, already uses thousands of Nvidia GPUs on AWS to train its popular Stable Diffusion models and now formalizes this critical relationship.
As part of the expanded partnership, Stability AI plans to utilize AWS’s SageMaker machine learning platform alongside lower-level infrastructure services featuring Nvidia GPUs and AWS’s own Trainium chips. The two companies also work together to make Stability AI’s open-source tools more accessible to students, researchers, startups, and enterprises around the world.
This strategic alliance highlights the growing competition in the generative AI space, with Stability AI actively capturing mindshare from OpenAI through its open-source approach. While models like Stable Diffusion face ongoing controversies regarding content filtering and artist rights, Stability AI’s aggressive strategy continues to attract a massive number of developers and drive rapid innovation in the industry.
