Geopolitically, the US and China remain nearly tied in the race to build the best AI systems. Chinese models like DeepSeek and Alibaba lag only slightly behind top US models from Anthropic, xAI, Google, and OpenAI, with rankings separated by razor-thin margins. Meanwhile, benchmarks, policies, and job markets struggle to keep pace with this rapid technological sprint.
