Mojo Vision officially unveils a working augmented reality contact lens, bringing digital displays directly to the human eye. After years of quiet research, the startup demonstrates the prototype to journalists, marking a significant shift from smartphones and headsets toward invisible, eye-based computing. This development pushes the digital world closer to the user than ever before.
The device features a microscopic MicroLED display with 70,000 pixels packed into an area the size of a grain of sand, achieving a remarkable 14K resolution. Because existing technology falls short, Mojo invents custom components including the display, oxygenation system, power management tools, and eye-tracking algorithms specifically for this product.
Unlike traditional soft disposable contacts, the Mojo Lens uses a hard scleral design that users recharge and disinfect wirelessly each night. The company plans for annual replacements, though pricing remains undisclosed. While the high-resolution display currently stars in the demonstrations, Mojo continues to embed additional electronics into the lens to expand its capabilities.
