Stepful Secures $31.5M to Train Healthcare Workers via AI
Stepful uses AI to train people for entry-level healthcare roles in just four months. The startup recently raised $31.5 million in Series B funding to expand its mission of solving the healthcare staffing shortage.
Stepful offers an AI-powered online program that trains individuals for entry-level healthcare positions like medical assistants and pharmacy technicians in just four months. Co-founded by Carl Madi after he noticed a massive demand for healthcare workers during the pandemic, the platform costs an average of $2,500 and provides an affordable alternative to traditional trade schools and community colleges.
The program blends flexible, bite-sized mobile learning with structured weekly instructor-led classes and group work. After students complete their online coursework, Stepful automatically matches them with one of its 8,000 partner clinics and hospitals across the country to complete hands-on clinical training.
To keep students on track, Stepful utilizes artificial intelligence to send personalized messages to those who fall behind, backed by human coaches who intervene when necessary. This support system helps the company achieve a 75% graduation rate, a milestone that attracts both eager students and significant venture capital, including a newly announced $31.5 million Series B round led by Oak HC/FT.
