Telegram Secures $300 Million Deal to Integrate Elon Musk's Grok AI

Telegram partners with xAI in a $300 million cash and equity deal to bring the Grok AI chatbot to its messaging platform this summer. The agreement gives xAI direct access to Telegram's massive user base of over one billion people.

Telegram forms a major partnership with Elon Musk’s xAI to bring the Grok generative artificial intelligence program to its messaging platform. Under the terms of the one-year agreement, Telegram receives $300 million in cash and equity, along with fifty percent of the revenue from xAI subscriptions sold through the messaging app.

The chatbot becomes available on Telegram this summer, providing xAI with direct access to a massive audience of over one billion users. This strategic move helps xAI expand its user base amid fierce competition from rivals like ChatGPT and DeepSeek as AI companies seek to recoup massive technology investments.

Currently, Grok exists on the X platform with heavy limitations for non-paying users, while the premium tier costs $40 per month. The new integration occurs as Telegram CEO Pavel Durov navigates ongoing legal troubles in France, where authorities recently blocked his travel to the United States for investment meetings.
