After a 79-day wait for access, users find it highly convenient to simply enter a destination within a 50-mile radius and let the vehicle handle the driving. The system performs exceptionally well on these rural routes, making autonomous driving feel like a reality during everyday local trips.
Despite the smooth driving capabilities, the software features a highly invasive driver monitoring system. An interior camera tracks the driver's face and issues an audible and visual warning if the driver looks at the center screen, a phone, or food for more than 15 seconds. Looking away for just 30 seconds at a drink results in a forced disengagement, consuming one of the five allotted strikes that can lead to losing FSD Beta access entirely.
