Tesla Nears Final Land Agreement for Massive European Gigafactory
Tesla is finalizing a contract to secure 740 acres of land in Brandenburg, Germany for its upcoming European Gigafactory. The company also submits environmental impact documents as it prepares to build vehicles and batteries near Berlin.
Tesla is making significant progress on its European expansion by working with state officials in Brandenburg to secure a 740-acre site in Grüenheide. The local government agrees to the current terms of the land contract and simply waits for Tesla to provide its final sign-off to seal the deal.
In addition to the land agreement, Tesla submits the necessary environmental impact documents to local monitoring authorities. This crucial paperwork step is required before the automaker receives official approval to break ground on the massive project.
Once operational, the facility produces the upcoming Tesla Model Y alongside batteries and powertrains. The new factory boasts impressive scale, with the potential to create up to 10,000 jobs and manufacture as many as 500,000 vehicles per year.
