Tesla releases Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta version 10.69.2 for Models S, 3, X, and Y, bringing significant improvements to lane topology and driving smoothness. The update introduces a new "deep lane guidance" module to the Vector Lanes neural network, which combines video stream features with coarse map data to achieve a 44% lower error rate on lane topology. This advancement enables smoother vehicle control before lanes become visually apparent and adapts seamlessly to road changes.
Alongside the new features, Tesla resets the "Force Autopilot Disengagements" counter to zero for all vehicles. The company enforces a strict policy where FSD Beta access faces suspension if a driver accumulates five forced disengagements due to inattentiveness. These forced disengagements occur only after the system issues multiple audio and visual warnings, while normal, driver-initiated disengagements do not count against the user.
The software update also refines the trajectory planner to independently account for system and actuation latency, resulting in smoother and more accurate driving without sacrificing response time. Furthermore, Tesla improves unprotected left turns in high-speed cross traffic scenarios by optimizing the initial jerk to mimic human pedal presses and adjusting the lateral profile for safer median crossovers. Tesla reminds drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and avoid using hand-held devices while the system is active.
