Tesla aims to release its Full Self-Driving Beta software to the wider public in approximately four weeks. This wider release comes almost a year after Tesla initially launched the software in an early access program.
The rollout depends on the release of FSD Beta version 10, which features a completely retrained neural network. Musk states that this new version goes out to the early access fleet next week, skipping a planned point release. After that initial deployment, the software needs a few additional weeks for tuning and bug fixes before the broader launch.
Despite the excitement, the timeline remains tentative and applies exclusively to the US market. The software functions as a level 2 driver assist system, meaning drivers retain full responsibility and must keep their hands on the wheel at all times. Customers who purchased the FSD package eventually receive a download button to decide whether they want to install the beta software.
