Tesla Unveils $300 Wireless Charging Mat to Revive Apple's Failed AirPower Dream
Tesla releases a $300 multi-device wireless charging mat that uses Aira's FreePower technology to charge up to three devices simultaneously anywhere on the surface.
Tesla introduces a new Wireless Charging Platform that revives the concept of Apple's canceled AirPower mat. The device features a Cybertruck-inspired aluminum casing and uses FreePower technology from a startup called Aira to charge up to three devices simultaneously.
This advanced technology delivers up to 15W of fast charging and allows users to simply toss their devices onto the Alcantara surface. No matter where the devices land on the mat, they receive power automatically without requiring precise placement.
The convenience of this multi-device charging experience comes at a premium price of $300. Aira originally developed the FreePower platform and previously raised $16 million from investors to expand this technology into consumer, enterprise, automotive, and hospitality markets.
