While no official candidates emerge for the position yet, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy hold significant influence over the hiring decision through their leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This new czar role operates alongside or potentially replaces the agency chief AI officers that President Joe Biden previously established through an executive order.
