The president's account, which boasts 88 million followers, initially faces a 12-hour lock on Wednesday for severe violations of the Civic Integrity policy. However, Twitter determines that further violations necessitate a permanent ban, effectively wiping years of official announcements, baseless claims, and attacks from the public view.

Twitter explains that while its public interest framework allows world leaders to communicate directly with citizens, no account stands above the rules. The company also blocks Trump’s attempts to bypass the ban by posting from associated campaign accounts, leaving his primary profile displaying a simple "Account suspended" message.
