Uber Partners with Cornershop to Launch Grocery Delivery Service
Uber officially launches a grocery delivery feature in its main app and Uber Eats, starting in parts of Latin America, Canada, and select US cities. The service relies on a new partnership with grocery startup Cornershop to fulfill and deliver orders directly to customers' doors.
Uber expands its on-demand services by officially launching grocery delivery through a new partnership with the startup Cornershop. Customers in select cities across Latin America and Canada order groceries directly through the Uber and Uber Eats apps starting today, with the service expanding to Miami and Dallas later this month. Subscribers of Uber Pass and Eats Pass receive free delivery on grocery orders over thirty dollars in these initial US markets.
The company bases this expansion on a massive surge in consumer demand, noting that grocery and convenience store orders on Uber Eats jump by 197 percent since March. Uber currently partners with over 9,500 merchants to deliver groceries across 35 countries, but this deeper integration with Cornershop provides a more streamlined, dedicated shopping experience. A Cornershop team member carefully picks out the items and brings the order directly to the customer's door.
Users enjoy the same tracking and safety features they expect from other Uber services, including the ability to request a completely contactless delivery. As the global trend toward grocery delivery continues to grow, Uber plans to roll out additional grocery features for both customers and merchants across the United States and other international cities in the coming months. This launch represents a major step in Uber's vision to become a single platform for all everyday needs.
