UiPath Buys Re:infer to Add AI Language Processing to Automation Platform

UiPath acquires natural language processing startup Re:infer to enhance its robotic process automation software. The deal allows customers to build AI-powered workflows for processing documents and customer feedback.

UiPath acquires Re:infer Ltd. to boost the artificial intelligence capabilities of its robotic process automation platform. Re:infer provides a natural language processing system that analyzes business documents and customer communications to help companies streamline their daily operations. The London-based startup previously raises $11.2 million in funding since its founding in 2015 by University College London researchers.

The startup's platform tackles several operational challenges by reading and understanding text-based data. It automatically routes customer support requests to the correct departments, identifies common feature requests in user feedback, and finds the root causes of recurring help desk tickets. Organizations train the built-in AI models on their own internal data through a no-code interface that does not require machine learning expertise.

UiPath plans to integrate Re:infer's technology directly into its existing automation software. Executive vice president Ted Kummert states that the combination allows customers to create AI-powered RPA workflows for manual business tasks. This move expands the ability of UiPath's software, which already observes and replicates worker actions in business applications, to now understand and process natural language within those automated routines.
