UK Tech Volunteers Unite Under COVID19 Tech Response Coalition

A coalition of grassroots UK tech initiatives unites under the name COVID19 Tech Response (CTR) to coordinate the technology sector's fight against the coronavirus crisis. The group brings together over 400 tech volunteers who support local Covid Mutual Aid groups across the country. CTR focuses on connecting available tech talent with specific problems that need solving during the pandemic.
The coalition acts as a central steering group rather than building individual solutions itself. It works closely with the CoronavirusTechHandbook, a global resource created by political technology college Newspeak House. By providing broad oversight, CTR aims to efficiently match community volunteers with technical problems and establish systems that enable new challenges to be addressed effectively.
CTR consists of numerous partner organizations including Covidmutualaid.org, Code4Covid, TechForUK, and Covid Tech Support. The group calls on tech professionals to join the Code4COVID Slack community, add their skills to an Airtable database, submit mainstream tech problems, and contribute to the global handbook. This unified approach ensures that individual tech efforts combine into a powerful, coordinated response.
