Ukrainian military agencies and state-owned banks face a powerful wave of Distributed Denial-of-Service attacks that disrupt critical online services. The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine see their websites knocked offline by an excessive number of requests per second. Simultaneously, Privatbank and Oschadbank experience severe interruptions that prevent customers from logging into their online banking accounts or using mobile payment apps.
Authorities confirm that these cyberattacks coincide with a coordinated information campaign aimed at spreading panic. Customers receive deceptive text messages falsely claiming that bank ATMs are out of service, prompting Ukraine's Cyberpolice to dismiss these alerts as part of an information attack. In response to the malicious traffic, Privatbank updates its web application firewall to geofence outside visitors and displays a warning message to blocked IP addresses.
Ukrainian security officials describe this ongoing assault as a massive wave of hybrid warfare intended to trigger anxiety and undermine public confidence in the government.
