Unitree Robotics Reaches $1.7 Billion Valuation in Latest Funding Round

Chinese robotics company Unitree achieves unicorn status after a Series C funding round led by major tech investors. The company currently generates $140 million in annual revenue by offering highly affordable legged robots.

Unitree Robotics officially achieves unicorn status after completing a Series C funding round that pushes its valuation to $1.7 billion. Major tech investors, including China Mobile's fund, Tencent, Alibaba, and Ant Group, lead the investment round to support the growing legged robot market. The Hangzhou-based company also reports an impressive $140 million in annual revenue and expands its workforce to over 1,000 employees since its founding in 2016.

The company stands out in the robotics industry by offering systems that cost up to 50% less than competitors, with prices starting at $16,000. Unlike many other humanoid developers, Unitree makes its robots immediately available for purchase for use in education, research, and facilities inspection. Its current product lineup includes the G1 and H1 humanoid robots, various quadruped models like the Go-2-W with wheels, and additional hardware such as robotic arms and lidar scanners.

Unitree's CEO acknowledges that large-scale deployment of legged robots remains a future goal but emphasizes the importance of aligning continuous technological improvement with actual market demand. The company leverages artificial intelligence to help its robots learn new behaviors for a wider range of industrial applications. As Unitree prepares for increasing competition in the legged robot sector, it continues to provide continuous over-the-air software updates to enhance the capabilities of its existing machines.
