Venmo Introduces Fee-Based Instant Transfers Direct to Bank Accounts
Venmo now allows users to send funds directly to their bank accounts within minutes for a 1% fee. The update provides a faster alternative to the standard one-to-three day transfer process.
PayPal-owned Venmo now offers instant transfers directly to U.S. bank accounts, giving users a faster way to access their funds. This new option allows money to arrive in minutes instead of the standard one to three business days. Users who want immediate access to their cash without waiting for the standard processing time can easily select this faster alternative.
The expedited service carries a fee of 1% of the transferred amount, with a minimum charge of $0.25 and a maximum cap of $10. Customers who prefer to avoid this fee still have the option to use the free, standard bank transfer. This pricing structure matches the fees Venmo introduced for instant transfers to debit cards in 2018.
This expansion aims to help gig economy workers and small businesses move money to their main accounts for bills and rent. The launch also helps Venmo compete with growing rivals like Zelle and Square's Cash App, while generating new revenue to push the popular app toward profitability.
