Venmo Tests Business Profiles to Attract Local Sellers and Side Hustles
Venmo launches a pilot program for Business Profiles, allowing small sellers to separate personal and business transactions while gaining visibility in the app's social feed.
Venmo introduces a pilot program for Business Profiles, giving small sellers and sole proprietors a way to establish a professional presence directly within the payment app. These profiles allow users to display key business details like addresses, phone numbers, and websites without needing a separate Facebook Page or Google Business listing.
The new feature helps sellers keep their personal transactions separate from business sales for easier accounting, all while using the same login. As customers pay for goods or services, those transactions appear in the Venmo social feed, which helps local artists, crafters, and side-hustle workers gain organic exposure among friends and neighbors.
Venmo also updates its search experience with a dedicated "Business" tab so customers can easily find these new profiles. While the service remains free during the pilot phase, Venmo indicates that it plans to charge for Business Profiles in the future to generate additional revenue.
